Ecclesial Extroversion: On the Reform in the Current Pontificate

The roots of the current crisis of trust and credibility that Roman Catholicism in Chile and Latin America faces can be traced to clericalism and its dire consequences. The Roman Catholic Church’s lack of credibility is understandable for several reasons. Confronting the caste mentality that this church model continues to reproduce is essential for substantive reform. The ecclesial extroversion of the current Pope will be the corollary of the whole process, which should lead to the strengthening of local churches, the maturation of mechanisms for real participation by all membership, the integration of legitimate internal dissent, and the search for pertinent forms of transmitting the faith.
