Durkheim, Luhmann and the Delimitation of the Problem of Social Order

In this article we propose that the sociological problem of social order is not necessary compa - rable to the problem of cohesion, control and/ or integration. Reconstructing the proposals of Durkheim about anomie, and Luhmanns con - cerning contingency, we argue that the concept of social order presents a higher level of generality, related to the recognition of an order of reality which is social in and of itself. In the context of this convergence, we consider that the speciicity that sociology provides is not only present in the answers given to the problem of order, as it has oten been assumed, but also in the conceptions of the problem itself.
