The present invention discloses a packing station (18) for packing articles (26) belonging to a commissioning order, in a shipping unit, in particular in a shipping box with a packaging means (60) (one, preferably horizontally oriented, Pack level 32), on which the article (26) (a stack of articles 74) are coatable; a stacking aid (30) having a plurality of lateral sides (34) to which the articles (26) to form the stack of articles (74) are applied, wherein the stacking aid (30) on the packing plane (32) is positionable; and a measuring means (20) for determining dimensions of the stack of articles (74) to generate the shipping unit individually according to the thus-determined dimensions; characterized in that the lateral sides (34) are closed in itself connected to the stacking aid (30) in a circumferential direction of the stacking aid (30) with each other; that the lateral sides (30) defining an open bottom (40) and an open top (38) of the stacking aid (30), said, preferably each of the lateral sides (34) are adjustable at least along the circumferential direction or is to to create the lateral sides (34) circumferentially close to a layered stack of articles (74); and that the measuring device (20) is arranged, a length, measured preferably each, of the lateral sides (34) of the stacking aid (30) and to determine a maximum height of the stack of articles (74) and the measured length (L) and the so- to send a certain amount to a packaging production means (22) for generating the dispatch unit in accordance with the measured lengths (L) and the determined height.
