Microbiological Detection of Cosmetics

2005
Objective To improve the hygienic quality and safety of cosmetics and provide basis for hygienic supervision on cosmetic production. [Methods] 3 290 cosmetic samples were randomly selected from the producers and retailers. [WTHZ][Results]The eligible rate was 97.3% (3 201/3 290); the superscale rate of colony counting, molds, yeast counting and fecal coliforms were 2.13% (70/3 290), 2.46% (81/3 290) and 0.24% (8/3 290) respectively. No pseudomonas aeruginosa and staphylococcus aureus were found in the detected samples. [Conclusion] The cosmetics in Shenzhen are proved to be of fine quality with small part of microorganism contamination of different levels. Hygienic supervision should be strengthened.
