Archéologie: du passe au présent, dês paysages au territoire

2020
Excavations carried out in several shelters in Mato Grosso showed settlements dating from the end of the Pleistocene and the Holocene. In this region where the hydrographic basins of Amazonas and Paraguay-Parana are born, spectacular rocky landscapes, the Stone Town and the Serra das Araras, have become territories of ancestral populations. Their implantations and exploitation of mineral, water and biological resources characterize them. However, their strongest identities come from the rock representations that were created there over several thousand years. Previously, our excavation of the Brito camp, an open-air site in the Paranapanema basin (west of the state of Sao Paulo), had shown the primordial importance of lithic materials for economic relations.
