Numerical studies on the stability of Davydov solitons

Abstract The time-dependent behaviour of localized excitations in a linear chain model for protein is investigated. Numerical evidence is presented that there is a critical velocity, below which the one-soliton solutions are dynamically stable whereas above which they become unstable.
