2010
ABSTRACT ABSTRACT ABSTRACT: A quasi-experimental, prospective and comparative study, of the before and after type. It aims at evaluating clinical and laboratory parameters of patients with Diabetes Mellitus (DM) attended at a basic health unit in the State of Amapa, Brazil, in 2008. The study included 31 patients, on a weekly follow-up by a multidisciplinary team for nine months. Data collection was made with a form containing clinical and laboratory variables. The values of clinical parameters were obtained weekly and laboratory parameters on a quarterly basis. Results showed, at the end of the study, an increase of 3.2kg/m 2 in body mass index, a reduction of 2mm/Hg in mean systolic blood pressure, 9.4mm/Hg in average diastolic blood pressure and 12mg/dl of mean fasting plasma glucose. The participation in primary care service can improve some clinical and laboratory parameters.
