An automatic tripping of the fall of an absorbent element in the core of a nuclear reactor

1985
In order to trigger automatically without intermediate instrumentation chain falling cioeur absorbent members in a nuclear reactor in the event of drop of the coolant level below a given threshold and, optionally, increasing the pressure beyond a permissible maximum value, is placed between each absorbing member 18 and the rod 20 supporting this element a device 28. this device comprises a clip formed of at least two fingers 30, this clamp being normally locked gripping position by locking members such as balls 46. a float 38 mounted in the rod 20 controls the unlocking of the clamp in one or the other of the two conditions requiring the fall of the absorbent members.
