Regular operation of the ORR at 20 Mw on a routine basis began on July 20, l958. The operation cycle consists of three weeks at full power followed by a one-week shutdown for experiment installation, general maintenance, and refueling. The core configuration currently in use contains 24 fuel elements and 4 control rods. The remaining 35 positions are occupied by Be reflector pieces or by experiments. Items discussed include core loadings, unscheduled shutdowns, cooling system operation, experiments, personnel, and operating costs. (W.D.M.)
