Measurement and calculation of decay heat in ISIS spallation neutron target

Abstract Thermal powers from radioactive decays (‘decay heat’) within a proton-driven neutron-producing tungsten target on the ISIS Spallation Neutron Source have been measured. Very good agreement is found with calculations using the Monte Carlo code MCNPX.
