General kinetic invariant model of dissolution of large polydisperse particles
1996
Abstract The kinetic invariant model proposed earlier for dissolution followed by chemical reaction of large, monodisperse particles (A.N. Bhaskarwar, AIChE J. , 37 (1991) 340–346) has been extended for large, polydisperse particles by means of a population balance. Approximate analytical expressions for the particle size distribution as a function of time have been presented for several standard initial distributions. These solutions are valid for the general transition regime. Solutions for the rate-limiting regimes, i.e. diffusion and kinetic control, are deduced as special cases of the general solution. The model is compared with experimental results reported in literature.
