A power analysis model for outdoor long-distance visible light communication

2017
In this paper, we present a power analysis model for outdoor long-distance visible light communication. To analyze the influence of long-distance channel attenuation, atmospheric scattering absorption, background light interference and different communication parameters on the transmitting power, we conducted three numerical simulation experiments under different scenarios. With the same experiment conditions as the distance is 10 Km and bit error ratio (BER) is 1 × 10 −6 , night scenario requires the transmitting optical power to be at least 3.5 W for a data rate of 75 Kbps while deep space scenario requires 2.1 W for a data rate of 112.5 Mbps.
