Establishing and maintaining proper water chemistry conditions in BWR coolant systems are important. This study provides a summary of known impurities, pinpointing the intrusion of ion-exchange resins as the leading cause of severe water quality transients. The data will aid in studying the effects of these impurities on material performance and in developing control guidelines.
