According to their note in the preface, the authors set out to write a comprehensive and encyclopedic coverage of modern hematology designed for use by the medical student, as well as the physician in active practice. The authors have succeeded in presenting a panoramic view of the growing complex field of hematology in keeping with their purpose. This work serves as a ready reference to the specific areas of interest. Except for general interest and review, this volume would seem to have less applicability for the pediatrician than it would for the medical student or for the general practictioner or internist, since the material concerns all age groups and for the most part tends to be quite brief in many areas of pediatric interest.
