Hydrazine Electro-Oxidation at Epitaxial Ir x Pt 100 − x Alloys
2013
Synthesis of Ir x Pt 100 − x epitaxial films was achieved by pulsed laser deposition on MgO (001) substrates. Despite the immiscibility gap, incorporation of Pt leads to Ir x Pt 100 − x (100) alloys on the entire range of Pt stoichiometry. H upd voltammetric analyses of the Ir x Pt 100 − x surfaces further emphasize the single crystalline (100) characteristics of the surfaces. Cyclic and reconstructed sampled current voltammetry studies will establish a correlation between Ir surface content and N 2 H 4 electrocatalytic performances. We will demonstrate that the preparation of high-quality Ir x Pt 100 − x (100) metastable alloys is simple and reproducible. Such rapid synthesis of model surfaces allows for extensive probing of the intrinsic activity of metastable catalysts. The effects of alloy formation, Pt content, and (100) surface structure onto N 2 H 4 electro-oxidation properties are presented thereafter.
