VIBRATIONAL STRUCTURE OF THE LIGAND FIELD ABSORPTION BAND OF SOME Co (III) COMPLEXES

The vibrational structures of the ligand field absorption bands of the Co (III) complexes, [Co(NH3)6]3+, [CoF(NH3)5]2+, [CoCl(NH3)5]2+, trans-[CoCl2(NH3)4]+, and trans-[CoBr2(NH3)4]+were studied at 4.2 K. It was found that the vibrational structures observed in the present studies consist of the uniquantal progressions of the totally symmetric CoN stretching vibrations of the complexes.
