A Proposed System for Fare Measurement for Rickshaws of Bangladesh

Rickshaw is a three-wheel low-cost vehicle. It runs only with the help of muscular strength of a person to carry other persons and loads but does not have a particular fare system. In this research work, a new idea of rickshaw fare measurement system is proposed. The objective of this work is to design an automated fare system for rickshaws in low cost to eradicate bargaining and reduce sufferings of the rickshaw puller as well as the passengers. The system is micro-controller based and designed using Arduino Uno, IR sensor, Accelerometer, Load sensor and Humidity sensor. The fare system calculates fare considering the distance, steepness of the road, weight of carrying loads, weather, travelling time and then displays the fare on the LCD screen. In addition, the rickshaw puller can agree or disagree with the fare, the decision is accounted for maintaining a fair rate. The prototype is implemented with satisfactory result in a test-based environment.
