The sustainable communities challenge in Southeast Asia

This chapter provides an overview of a region where for thousands of years human societies have proved that living sustainably - as healthy and happy individuals, within caring and stable families and communities, and in harmony with the natural world - is possible. This long-term sustainability of economic and cultural systems is the result of indigenous and other local systems of socialization and learning that established a human and natural ecology at one with each other. The hope of this book is that the learnings from the regions' ancient sustainable practices can be known to a wider audience.
