Hyperbolic Metamaterial based Active Tunable Compact THz Source

2019
The unavailability of a compact and tunable THz source has hampered the growth of THz science and therefore has resulted in “The THz Gap”. The next generation vacuum electronic devices can serve to fill this gap, however such devices would need fusion of concepts that can overcome the limitations of the existing techniques. In this paper an interaction structure based on Hyperbolic Metamaterial (HMM) geometry, for next generation vacuum electronic devices has been discussed. The proposed structure consists of a multilayer arrangement of alternate dielectric and graphene layers, where the grapheme layer provides the tunability.
