Brazilian Renewable Carbon Capture and Geological Storage Map: Possibilities for the Paraná Basin☆
2013
Abstract Renewable Carbon Capture and Storage (RCCS) represents an interesting option to reduce CO 2 emissions and go towards negative emissions. As part of the CARBMAP Research Program, this study aims to develop a map of RCCS possibilities for the Parana Basin, Brazil. A Geographic Information System was used to match RCCS-related data. Preliminary results indicate that CO 2 emissions matched to the Parana Basin are derived from ethanol and sugar cane plants. Good possibilities to develop RCCS are in this basing's saline aquifers.
