Recommended Procedures for Evaluation of Abortion Techniques

Numerous reports on a variety of medical and surgical techniques of abortion have been published since the legalization of abortion in the United States in the early 1970s. It often is difficult to compare the results from different studies or to interpret the results of a given study for a number of reasons, including inadequate definitions of terms, failure to describe the abortion procedure in sufficient detail, inappropriate analyses of the data, and/or failure to include other essential information.
