2008
Prostate cancer is one of the most common visceral malignant neoplasms in men, and the incidence rates are noticeably higher then other malignancy. Diagnostic modality includes digital rectal examination (DRE), prostate-specific antigen (PSA) level evaluation and transrectal ultrasonography (TRUS) imaging of prostate. Тhе final diagnosis is based on histological examination of biopsy or surgery specimens. The investigation of diagnostic criteria carried out in 360 patients, reveals PSA 4 ng/ml and higher to be the most notable (91,1%) indication for prostate biopsy compared with DRE (41,9%) and TRUS (31,7%) especially in early stages of cancer.
