Effects of weathering on the infrared characteristics of Nigerian crude oils

1993
Abstract The infrared spectra of samples of fresh and weathered crude petroleum were interpreted. Infrared absorbance ratios of the three characteristic absorption bands in the 1375–1600 cm-1 region were chosen for differentiation of the crude oil samples. Applicability of the infrared technique for passive tagging of oil is also assessed.
