New early Barremian fossiliferous amber outcrop from North Lebanon

2021
Lebanon is famous for its abundant Mesozoic amber deposits. Most of its amber outcrops are from the Lower Cretaceous [lower Barremian (Granier et al., 2016; Maksoud et al., 2017)] (ca. 430 outcrops found hitherto), while others are from Upper Jurassic (Kimmeridgian) [19 outcrops (Azar et al., 2010b; Nohra et al., 2013; Maksoud & Azar, 2020)]. Among the many Lebanese Lower Cretaceous amber deposits, only 24 of them gave biological inclusions to date (Azar et al., 2010a; Maksoud & Azar, 2020; Maksoud et al., 2020).
