Aerosol particle analysis by resonance raman spectroscopy

1992
Abstract In this report, resonance Raman spectroscopy is used for the first time to enhance the low Raman scattering signal from suspended particles. Sodium nitrate is used as an internal standard for this study. The enhancement factor is measured to be 20 for sodium chromate in the pre-resonance scheme and 300 for the permanganate ion in the resonance conditions. The results have demonstrated the feasibility of applying resonance Raman spectroscopy to the chemical analysis of aerosol particles.
