The method comprises the following steps: basic capability negotiation is carried out through a terminal capacity set message of an endpoint, wherein the endpoint is an endpoint of a remote rendering system based on a multimedia communication system H.323 protocol of a packet switching network based on the International Telecommunication Union-Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T); and secondary capability negotiation is carried out on remote rendering features of the endpoint by a predetermined method. By adopting the method, the device and the endpoint of the invention, the problem that negotiation on new feature parameters of a remote rendering system cannot be realized on the basis of not changing the existing protocol in the related technologies is solved, and negotiation on new feature parameters of a remote rendering system is realized on the basis of not changing the existing protocol.
