Electrophilic Cationic Palladium(II) Complexes Containing a Diimine Ligand with Pendant Thienyl Groups. X-ray Structure of {PdIIMe[1,4-bis(2‘-(2- thienyl)ethyl)2,3-dimethyl-1,4-diazabutadiene]}+

Cationic Pd(II) complexes [(N2S2)Pd(II)Me][BArF] (3) and [(N2S2)Pd(II)][SO3CF3]2 (7) have been synthesized by using a new diimine ligand 1,4-bis(2‘-(2-thienyl)ethyl)-2,3-dimethyl-1,4-diazabutadiene (N2S2) that contains semilabile pendant thienyl groups. Both complexes activated the Et3Si−H bond and catalyzed the isomerization of 1-hexene to internal hexenes.
