A high sensitive magnetometer by using the dynamic Faraday method

1994
Abstract A very high sensitive magnetometer has been developed by using a pulsed high magnetic field with a sensitive mechanical balance. The principle of the system is to use the Faraday method in a pulsed magnet where the field H 0 and field gradient ∂H 0 / ∂z are much higher than those of conventional magnets. To get high sensitivity, the oscillation period of the balance is designed to be 1.5s and the pulse width of the field to resonate it. The magnetometer has a sensitivity of 10 −12 emu which exceeds that of SQUID. Higher sensitivity is easily expected by increasing field intensity.
