The VICKSI beam handling system
1974
Abstract The VICKSI beam handling system is designed for experiments with pulsed heavy ion beams. It provides nine target areas. Six target areas are reached after the passage of two 90°-bending magnets. The following beam preparation modes are possible: (1) double dispersive, double telescopic, vanishing angle dispersion, energy resolution up to 8000; (2) nondispersive, off-mid-plane telescopic, adjustable time-energy coefficient, variable energy resolution up to 4000, variable time-of-flight resolution below 1 ns; (3) achromatic, off-midplane telescopic, on-midplane nearly telescopic, variable energy resolution up to 4000.
