Attitudes of Italian doctors to euthanasia and assisted suicide for terminally ill patients

Summary Among Italian hospital physicians and general practitioners, 17·9% endorsed euthanasia or assisted suicide for terminally ill patients and 79·4% endorsed withholding or withdrawal of treatment. Need for attention to quality of life and pain control also emerged.
