Analisis De La Coda De Los Primeros Arribos En Sismica De Multicomponentes

2008
One of the main obstacles for obtaining good imaging of converted waves in onshore seismic lies in the strong decoupling between source statics —dominated by the velocity of compressional waves “P”- and receiver statics —subject to the variation of the shear waves “S’ in the weathered layer. In this study we shall use synthetic data to compare the statics obtained for converted waves using two methods. One method, broadly used by the industry, consists is the common receiver stack. The other method, most popular in theoretical seismology and at an experimental stage, uses the energy converted from P into S immediately underneath the receiver station. This energy is commonly referred to as the first arrival coda and is analyzed in the receiver function study. This method is independent of the reflections, and therefore, suitable for areas of complex structural geology.
