Translocation (8;21) in two cases of refractory anemia with excess of blasts in transformation

Abstract We report two cases of refractory anemia with excess of blasts in transformation (RAEB-T) with the translocation (8;21), which is frequent in ANLL but not in myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS). A review of such cases leads us to conclude that myeloproliferative disorders characterized by the t(8;21) may be preceded by an MDS phase.
