Study on the relationship between general self-efficacy and mental health among 139 military nursing staff

Objective To investigate the relationship between self - efficacy and mental health among nursing staff in a military hospital. Method One hundred and thirty - nine nursing staff in a military hospital were recruited and investigated with the General Self -Efficacy Scale(GSES) and Symptom Checklist 90(SCL -90).Results The mean score of GSES was(2.69±0.58) points.The factor score of hostility of SCL -90 was significantly higher than that of both the normal of general people and women in PLA.The score of GSES was negatively correlated with the total score and each factor score of SCL - 90(P0.05).The total score and each factor score of SCL -90 were all significantly lower among the nurses with high level of self- efficacy compared with the nurses with low level of self - efficacy(P0.05 ).Conclusion The general status of mental health among nursing staff in the military hospital is good,and the mental health among nurses with high level of self - efficacy is better than those with low level of self - efficacy.
