Alumina-based material with comprehensive shielding effect of rays and neutrons

2011
The invention belongs to an alumina-based shielding material with a comprehensive shielding effect of X-rays, gamma-rays and neutrons, and in particular relates to a shielding material with high intensity, light quality and multiple shielding effects. The shielding material comprises the components of an aluminum-magnesium-plumbum alumina-based alloy (15-30 percent of magnesium, 15-35 percent of plumbum, the balance of aluminum, in percentage by mass) and boron or borides, wherein the aluminum-magnesium-plumbum alumina-based alloy is used as a base body of the shielding material and the boron or borides are used as neutron absorbers. The matching ratio of the components of the shielding material is that: the mass percentage of the alumina-based alloy is 90-99.7 percent and the mass percentage of the boron or borides is 0.3-10 percent. Compared with the traditional aluminum-base material and a plumbum/boron carbide and plumbum boron polyethylene composite material, the boron- or boride-containing alumina-base shielding material provided by the invention has an excellent comprehensive shielding effect of shielding the X-rays, gamma-rays and neutrons and has the tensile strength and brinell hardness much higher than the tensile strength and brinell hardness of the traditional plumbum-boron polyethylene and plumbum-boron carbide composite shielding material.
