Takayasu Arteritis - Discussion of three clinical cases

2004
The authors describe and discuss three clini- cal cases of Takayasu's arteritis diagnosed in a General Medicine Service, highlighting the fact that this pathology has different clinical pre- sentations which corresponds to the different types of this pathology. The authors present these cases because Takayasu arteritis is a rare disease, with a non- specifi c initial clinical presentation, in which early diagnosis is of great importance because of the inherent morbidity and mortality. They outline the evolution of the diagnostic criteria, which has contributed to the diagnosis of more cases, many of which at an earlier stage.
