Conclusions du Colloque international « Biodiversité et Gestion des Ecosystèmes prairiaux » (Metz, 8–10 juin 1995)

Summary Definitions of the biodiversity, its organization levels and ecosystem concept are debated. The natural and human factors of grassland ecosystems biodiversity are recalled. We draw attention to the interest of biological typology of plant communities in connection with genetic resources preservation. The causes of degradation of biodiversity and their relations with productivity are evoked. The scientific bases of conservation and restoration managements of specific and cenotic diversity are analysed with emphasizing the long time. A survey is given on respective parts of « agri—environmental » policies and European « Habitats » Directive. Proposals are made for a policy of grassland biodiversity protection and people information.
