Emergency Management: Resuscitative Endovascular Balloon Occlusion of the Aorta (REBOA)
2021
An alternative to direct surgical bleeding control in noncompressible torso hemorrhage is based on Resuscitative Endovascular Balloon Occlusion of the Aorta (REBOA) as an interventional adjunct. This old concept was reintroduced during the last decade also for pelvic bleeding control. This chapter evaluates the present indications, the technique, and clinical results, especially regarding mortality rates. The value of REBOA in pelvic trauma treatment algorithms is discussed.
