Gobierno corporativo en las pymes familiares del sector de la construcción con actividades en Bogotá D.C.

2020
SMEs are the most important productive force in Colombia. Therefore, the quest to guarantee their survival is a goal at the country level, a concern of managers and an important topic at the research level. Among the factors that help companies to succeed is the analysis of their corporate governance, understood as guidelines that guide, govern and exercise control mechanisms, and which are established by senior management (Heuvel, Gils, and Voordeckers, 2006), as well as the problems regarding the execution of the family succession. Thus, this research had the general objective of finding the best corporate governance and family succession practices in family SMEs in the construction sector that carry out activities in Bogota D.C. Consequently, it was concluded that the lack of formalization in the processes and in the organizational structure prevents SMEs from identifying their strengths. Likewise, entrepreneurs do not have family protocol strategies for generational change that allow a satisfactory transit. Furthermore, the main opportunities for SMEs are the generation of strategic alliances and the implementation of business management tools. The main threats are the economic slowdown and default on customers. The most important strengths are its adaptability and flexibility to offer solutions, as well as the union of employees. And the most significant weakness is the lack of formality in the processes.
