The Effect of Different Low Temperature Treatment on the Anatomical Structure of Oil Palm Leaves

2014
Two-year s old oil palm seedlings were treated with four different lowest temperature treatments including CK( natural temperature), 16 ℃(T1), 12 ℃(T2) and 8 ℃(T3) according to the daily temperature change regularity. After treated for 20 days, leaf injury and anatomical structure were analyzed under different temperature treatments. Results showed that with the decreasing of temperature, the damage of leaves of oil palm seedlings became more and more serious. Changing of the leaf structure parameters such as total leaf thickness, sponge tissue thickness/ total leaf thickness(SR) were prominent under low different temperature treatments, which could be used to evaluate cold resistance of oil palm germplasm resources. The results would provide informations for the selection of cold resistance varieties suitable for cultivation in China.
