This article examines the benefits and challenges of using video conferencing for diagnostic and therapeutic services for people with ASD in Israel during COVID-19 The COVID-19 pandemic presented ASD clinicians and clinical researchers with unique challenges With social communication as the defining feature of ASD, both diagnostic examination and therapeutic intervention suffer in the absence of direct social contact in this era of social distancing The need for diagnostic assessments (e g , for educational placements or state-funded support) has not diminished, and the need for intervention may have even increased (albeit with changes in focus) In Israel, a central platform that has been widely used is video conferencing which has been harnessed for the provision of diagnostic and therapeutic services This method presented clinicians with new challenges, which by themselves call for research examination (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2020 APA, all rights reserved)
