Taking as a starting point a complaint letter sent to the Court of the Inquisition of Lisbon seeks to examine healing rituals in the hinterland of Ceara in the eighteenth century. In this sense, the article discusses the presence of different perceptions of realities: the "illustration" Pombal, the CounterReformation religious thought, the imagery that permeated the Sabatt and European cultural elements of indigenous peoples from Ceara.
