Syntheses were reported for 1,2-disubstituted silylcyclopropanes by the reductive cyclization of RCCl2CH2CHClSiMe3 compounds.

The cyclization upon the reduction of ClCH2CH2CCl2CH2CHClSiMe3 using metallic zinc proceeds with involvement of both the CH2C1 and CHC1 groups. The product ratio depends significantly on the solvent.
