Comprehensive Evaluation of Shaft Manufacturability: Mathematical and Information Models

2020
Mechanical product, like any product designed to meet specific needs, has properties, constituting its quality. Ensuring the manufacturability of the product design at the design stage is a significant and at the same time the most difficult task of the engineer. The purpose of this research is to improve the quality of project design solutions in mechanical engineering with the help of a comprehensive qualimetric evaluation of shaft parts’ manufacturability, considering their production cost, labor intensity, design and technological unification of components. The proposed manufacturability evaluation includes two main components: technological cost and unification, expressed by design and technological factors. To check the model’s adequacy, the correlation coefficient was determined by expert estimates of the manufacturability level of such parts as solids of revolution and the estimates calculated by the proposed method. During the operation, the level of manufacturability of the part can be calculated according to four parameters: consistency of bases; surface roughness; unification of structural elements (SE); and processing labor intensity.
