Doctor-to-Patient communication by 2.5G mobile phone; preliminary study

2005
Abstract This paper proposes a Doctor-to-Patient communication tool by 2.5G/3G, International Mobile Telecommunications-2000, mobile phones that are equipped with high-quality liquid crystal displays (LCD) and are able to utilize high speed network services. For the design and implementation of the tool system, we investigated diagnostic readability relative to the file size of the medical images processed by Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) lossy compression. We consider that an auxiliary tool may be required to send several kinds of images to the mobile phone, which makes it easy to bring the original images down to the size less than the LCD size of mobile phones.
