States of high Ex in 31P

In the 29Si(3He,p)31P reaction at a bombarding energy of 15.0 MeV, angular distributions have been measured for 39 levels between 6.4 and 9.7 MeV excitation, and fitted with DWBA curves to extract L values. When combined with previous information, the results make unique the Jpi assignments for six levels for which more than one possibility was previously allowed. Restrictions are placed on Jpi for eight additional levels. The authors observe two new states, at 7994 and 9659 keV. For the remainder, the data are consistent with existing Jpi information for all but the 7897 keV level.
