Large seawater reverse osmosis plant: Design considerations

Abstract The need for appropriate technical specifications for building R.O. plants is discussed in this paper. Especially in the Middle East region, where the demand for R.O. plants is increasing, the requirements must be carefully defined, particularly in view of the high salinity and high temperature of the seawater in this region. This paper outlines our company's approach for the design and preparation of tender documents for seawater R.O. plants. This approach is illustrated with a typical example: the seawater R.O. plant at Ajman, United Arab Emirates, for which tenders have been received recently.
