Biogenic Siliceous Features
2018
Abstract Biogenic siliceous features are various forms of silica produced by organisms. The most common types of biogenic silica are phytoliths, diatom frustules, sponge spicules and testate amoeba shells. Using analysis and description of soil thin sections, biogenic siliceous features are studied to recognise, interpret and conceptualise processes of soil genesis and to provide information about landscape evolution.
