A NOVEL SYNTHESIS OF 14-ARYL-14 H-NAPHTO (2,1-b)PYRANO(3,2-e)(1,2,4)TRIAZOLO(1,5-c)PYRIMIDINES

A new series of 14-aryl-14H-naphto[2,1-b]pyrano[3,2-e][1,2,4]triazolo[1,5-c]pyrimidines 5 were synthesised by reacting an excess of triethyl orthoformate with 11-aryl-1,12-dihydro11H-naphtopyrano[2,3-d]pyrimidines 3, as readily available starting materials, in moderate yields from imidates 2 and tosylhydrazine.
