MANOEUVRING SIMULATIONS OF BRITISH BOMBARDIER, MARINER AND FRIGATE FORMS

A series of simulations has been carried out using the mathematical model of the manoeuvring model group for the Japanese Towing Tank Conference. This model includes linear as well as non-linear hydrodynamic terms. A program has been written to incorporate the latest developments in the prediction of hydrodynamic forces in the mathematical model. The program has been tested with full scale prediction values which confirm that the simulation package is suitable for use on vessels of different forms such as the British Bombardier, Mariner and Frigate respectively. Results of the turning simulation also confirm with IMO guidelines set for manoeuvring performance.
