Curative Analysis of 12 Bronchial Arterial Embolization Cases

2011
Objectives Access the efficacy in the treatment of severe hemoptysis with the bronchial arterial embolization(BAE).Methods Regular check, DSA and BAE was performed in 12 hemoptysis patients from Apr.2006 to Jun.2007 and do analyze the patients’ clinical information and get some results. Results 12 patients showed bronchial arterial tortuous expansion and more branches, in which 8 patients were with pathological changes both sides, 4 patients one side, 1 patient together with hemangiomas, 3 patients embolized in more than two branches. 11 patients stopped hemopthsis after surgery except for only one patients with lung cancer expectorated with blood. The all patients had relapse following up observation of 1-14 months, 1 patient with pulmonary tuberculosis after 6 months, 1 patient with lung cancer, and 1patient with bronchiectasis. The other 9 patients didn’t recur at all. Conclusion BAE is effective for hemoptysis, repeating treatment possible for one patient, small damage and recovering fast. It is very suitable for the patient with no effective internal medicine treatment and no possibility or high risk of surgery treatment.
